Color Throwdown #73

Welcome back to another Color Throwdown color challenge! Tammy chose our colors this week and they are:

We are also being sponsored this week by There She Goes Clear Stamps! Very nice quality clear stamps! I chose to work with Fairy Good Day...

and here is my card...

the inside reads "is my two front teeth!". I remember, as a kid, loving this song and singing along with it as I played the 45 version on my record player. Remember those? Wow, I'm starting to feel old!!! I don't think my kids have ever seen a record player, let alone touch a record! I had fun with this card. I stamped two sizes of teeth and a tiny flower in versamark ink on the artichoke layer. I realize now that I probably should have faux stitched with a white gel pen around the outside edge of the artichoke layer...oh well! It's hard to see, but her blue wings are blue shimmer paper and the hem of her dress has tiny beads on it!

I hope you will take time to visit the other CTD designers blogs...

Filigree Christmas

I just love the latest round of snowflakes that DRS Designs released a couple of months ago. I used the medium filigree snowflake (H1123) on this card. I have to say, I am really pleased with the way this card turned out!!!

Images by DRS Designs...

I was thrilled when I discovered that this image fits perfectly in the mega scallop square punch! This card was so quick and fun to put together. I simply stamped three images, punched them, adhered one to a giga scallop square punch and placed them on my card front like diamonds. A simple holiday sentiment and jewel centers and I was done! Another card that could be easily reproduced for your holiday card making list! Not to mention it is easy to mail! No heavy or bumpy embellishments that will cost you extra postage.

Simple Joys...

I admit...cookies are simple joys that make me happy!!! This gingerbread man (E040) makes me happy too with his cute little face!!

Images by DRS Designs...

I gave this little man a velvet vest with pearl buttons and a ribbon bow tie!!! He is laying on a piece of silver mirror paper to look like a cookie sheet. I thought this sentiment was fitting. I stamped the zig zag border stamp in dark green on my green panel to mimic the zig zags of white "frosting"! I also found a bag of holiday buttons in my studio...after digging through it, I came up with this fun sugar canister button! I added some ribbon behind it to finish things off.

Color Throwdown #72

Are you ready for another Color Throwdown color challenge?

Here are this week's colors....

This week we are being sponsored by My Favorite Things Stamps...I chose an image from the new Pure Innocence line...they are sooo cute!!! Here is my card using my balloon...

I really had fun with this one! I knew I wanted to do something different with her balloon! I searched all over my studio for something that was approximate in size. I finally found it when I spied a package of glass marble magnets that I found in a dollar spot somewhere!! Not sure if it was Michaels or Target!! I simply cut off the size circle I needed and I was good to go! I filled the "balloon" with seed beads and voila...a quicky, quick shaker card!! It's hard to see my touches of read but the heart on the belt of her dress is a nail jewel in the shape of a heart. The dp is from DCWV - butterflies and blossoms. Perfect for paper piecing her dress!

The Joy of Layers...

and the joy of Christmas! We're almost there...it's almost here...the most wonderful (stressful - lol) time of the year. Well, actually we are in the midst of the holiday season...for some of us, though who don't have our trees up or our cards written, we're almost there! LOL!!! I thought I would share another easy (but looks difficult ;) holiday card today, using two images from the latest release.

Isn't this giant poinsettia image so pretty? It's perfect for layering (hence my title!). This sketch came to me as I was driving to work the other day and I drew it on a receipt while at a light!!! It came out just like I pictured it...don't you love when that happens?

I stamped the image three times. Once on green and twice on red. I cut the entire image out of the green and just the flower out of the red. The green layer is attached directly to the sentiment panel and the red layers are each adhered with pop dots. Some yellow jewels and white gel pen accents finished the look. The sentiment is so pretty and fit so well with this sketch. The green panel on the below the focal panel was stamped with the DRS open plaid stamp. Their plaid stamps are so versatile and easy to use.

Some ribbon and jewels finished things off nicely! Thanks for checking in today...
